Sex and CIRS

Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (AKA Mold Illness) which is a form of chronic illness can influence our sex drive for very real reasons. Chronic illness leaves few of us feeling sexy, yet libido is often driven down by a low DHEA. DHEA is a hormone that we rarely talk about. We give much air time to estrogen and testosterone when melanocyte stimulating hormone (MSH) and DHEA is where it is at in CIRS. DHEA is something that can be addressed early on in the Shoemaker Protocol. Optimizing DHEA helps us maintain brain mass as well as muscle mass as we age. It also elevates energy and libido. There is a big difference between an adequate DHEA and an optimized DHEA. Work with your CIRS provider to optimize your DHEA so that you pull a lever that eleavtes libido despite chronic illness!
