What Even Remediators Get Wrong for CIRS Patients!

There is no way to sugar coat it- A remediation has to be VERY different for a person suffering with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (AKA Mold Illness). Why? Because remediation techniques used for non-CIRS patients (i.e. your average joe that had water intrusion) can cause further harm to people suffering from Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome. This has to do with the dysfunction in a CIRS patients ability to see, tag, and remove toxins. Open a wall with water damage to remediate for a non-CIRS patient... no biggie. Open a wall with water damage to remediate for a CIRS patient and you have opened pandora's box. You have released what was previously somewhat contained into their environment. A containment space was needed for remediation followed by a small particle cleaning to remove the "nasties" the patient's immune system cannot properly see, tag, and remove.

This is where a CIRS savvy indoor environmental professional (IEP) comes into the picture. While they are far and few and likely don't reside in your state, they can guide the boots-on-the-ground remediators who are local to you. And quite frankly, this is a win-win for all involved. Now your area has remediators knowledgeable about CIRS! God forbid you have another water intrusion event, you have a CIRS savvy local remediator on speed dial. And now others in your neck of the woods can also benefit from their new depth of knowledge. We need CIRS savvy boots on the ground in ALL areas. It's honesty a huge opportunity for those already involved in remediation efforts. Get the super hero capes ready, because these remediators embracing the CIRS learning curve will now change and save lives.

Remediators can consider taking the CIRSx Institute- Medically Important Remediation Course for Professionals . It is a comprehensive, 14-hour course designed for indoor environmental professionals seeking advanced skills in remediation for medically sensitive environments. You may also enjoy the CIRS Group's Remediation Recap from last years CIRSx conference. Bottom line- Don't short cut it only to waste time, energy, and resources. Start with an IEP from the get-go and get better in the most straightforward and cost-effective way.
